Accessible Media Chooses Primus Business Services to Consolidate Technology Infrastructure

Full Suite of Primus Services will integrate 12 disparate locations

Toronto, May 4, 2011 - Primus Business Services, a part of Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated (OTCBB: PMUG), today announced a partnership to provide Accessible Media Incorporated (AMI) a full suite of advanced technology services for AMI's Voice Print and The Accessible Channel (TACTV) brands. Providing AMI with a centralized technology infrastructure, this partnership will allow AMI's 12 disparate locations to become integrated into a singular, cohesive environment, creating a more solid and efficient communications and IT setting.

"Primus is thrilled to have been able to provide a leader, such as Accessible Media Incorporated, the network foundation and technology solutions required to meet their business imperatives and responsibilities to the hearing and visually impaired constituents of Canada," said Jeff Lorenz, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Primus Canada. "By creating a single centralized network, with Primus Data Centres at the core, AMI will be able to realize a more streamlined, efficient and productive working environment."

AMI reviewed a number of potential partners for the project but chose Primus because of the technology company's ability to offer a consultative approach in defining the technology solution to meet AMI's business goals. The original requirement was to select a VOIP platform. However in the discovery phase, Primus first reviewed the AMI core network's ability to deliver a national and centralized network, and then positioned a total solution set, including the core network, the VoIP platform, and managed services, based on redundancy, reliability, security and flexibility. Through this new partnership, AMI's consortium of brands has been merged under a single umbrella, allowing for a more efficient structure moving forward.

"After reviewing a number of potential partners, Primus was the natural choice for AMI's consolidation," said Fil Magnoli, Director of IT. "We were looking for a 'one-stop' technology supplier that had proven capabilities and understood the needs of the various IT requirements of our company. AMI saw the future of a streamlined business model through the use of cloud computing and wanted a partner that could effectively and efficiently move the company to this space. Primus fit the bill in every respect."

Primus' solution to AMI includes:

  • Centralized Network Management: Providing a common security and network management approach for their diverse technology implementation. The solution also provides a redundant network platform that is secure and reliable. The new topology provides disaster recovery in situations of network failure; enabling broadcast media to still reach thousands of customers who rely on AMI for their inclusion in everyday media.
  • Primus Managed Services Support: Delivering expertise and flexibility to AMI's existing infrastructure allows AMI to focus on providing broadcast media. The Managed Services team of experts provides 24/7 proactive network monitoring and relief to the already stretched IT experts at AMI.
  • HPBX Integration: A completely managed single image system across 12 disparate locations with a single support mechanism for all users regardless of geography. The scalability and flexibility offered by HPBX means that AMI was able to easily expand from 1 to 12 locations with minimal administration.

"Primus looks forward to continuing to provide the technology solutions that support AMI in the company's ongoing success," said Lorenz. "As AMI's business expands, we look forward to working in partnership with them to provide the most up-to-date and cost-effective technology support."
